The Macaca silenus, commonly known as the lion-tailed macaque, is a primate species native to the Western Ghats mountains of India. It is characterized by its black fur, a distinctive silver-white mane surrounding its face, and a tail that resembles a lion's, complete with a tuft at the tip. Lion-tailed macaques are among the smaller macaque species, with males typically being larger than females. They are known for their arboreal lifestyle and their social groups which usually consist of several males, twice as many females, and infants.
