These are not "alligators".
There are only two species of alligators, the American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) and the Chinese alligator (Alligator sinensis).
The species of the animals pictured is Gharial (Gavialis gangeticus).
The Gharial is also referenced by the name "Gavial", which is a term that appeared in earlier literature as a result of a typographical error misspelling Gharial.
