 Description 
Table Of Contents: This widley distributed species, named for 2 tufts of feathers that appear briefly during the breeding season, is founded on saltwater shores and on large inland waters across the continent. The feathers of cormorants are not fully waterproof, and the birds are commonly found posed on rocks or pilings with their wet wings spread for drying.
